The library at St Francis School has ample books for all age groups. Books on fiction, non-fiction, reference books, text books etc. are being kept to feed the knowledge to students, staff and members. Students enjoy spending quality time by reading books in the library. We have regular subscription of newspapers and magazines to keep up to date with day-to-day affairs. The Principal himself envisage the library as a dynamic and flexible space that is innovatively designed with best practices and research in mind where students can explore and use various resources in different formats. Students are encouraged to grow and become passionate learners and individuals where the world of knowledge opens up to them. The available resources offer an amazing variety of learning experiences for all ages as it comes from a variety of sources, within and outside of India.

Library Rules & Regulations

The Library shall remain kept open between 9:00 am and 3:30.pm. except during lunch hours.

Only notebooks, paper and a pencil or a pen may be brought inside the library along with the library books due for return.

Students may borrow one book at a time on their library cards. Students of Classes IX & X may borrow two books at a time. Cards are not transferable. The library card of a student will be cancelled if he/she is found lending it.

Books are issued for a week at a time. They must be returned on the due date stamped on the register. Only those books for which there is no immediate demand will be reissued.

Students are responsible for the books borrowed on their cards. Any damage to the books should be pointed out the time of borrowing and the signature of the librarian obtained.

The loss of books or the discovery of any damage to them will have to be compensated for, by the students.

Books are issued and returned only during library periods. Suitable amount of fine is levied on students for overdue books and damages.

If a book is lost, it has to be replaced by a new one or its market price has to be paid. There is a penalty for scribbling in a library book.

Students of Classes III to IX should return their library cards at the end of the academic year. Students of Classes X should return them before they complete their Board Examinations.

Library books, magazines and furniture are the property of the school and must not be marked, damaged or taken out of the library without permission.

Complete silence should be maintained inside and in the vicinity of the library.

Lend books of all categories except reference books.

Provide assistance to students, teachers, members and readers in locating books or magazines.

Provide guidance to readers wherever necessary.

Reserve any item like books, newspaper or others on request by the user or teacher or members on the basis of urgency.

Inculcate a sense of orientation within the students, in other words showing them the right path to get habituated with the library in a meaningful and effective way.

Display latest information and new arrivals of journals, books, periodicals etc.in the library notice board.

Restore the various question papers of the competitive exams as well as of different schools for reference. Please note the question papers cannot be issued.

Provide information and share facts with the students interested in their career building.

Provide the facility to photocopy the materials which are not allowed to be borrowed at a minimal cost, if required.
